LOCAL COURSE RULES

All players are asked to respect the rights of the general public to walk across the course.

1. Appendix 1-part A/4b & part B/4c. Preferred lies are in play at all times on the fairway and the fairway line of the hole being played.

Ball lying on the fairway line may be marked & lifted, cleaned and replaced 6 inches either side of the line.

On a different fairway line to the hole that is being played the ball may be lifted and dropped within 1 club length not nearer the hole.

2. Rule 25-1: A ball lying in manure or dung or damage created by animals any where on the course except in a water hazard

Relief may be taken at the nearest point but not nearer the hole. Within a bunker the ball must be dropped at the best possible point not nearer the hole. If the ball is dropped outside the bunker a penalty shot occurs.

Interference also occurs if the player’s ball lies on the green and on the line of the putt is affected. Relief may be taken without penalty.

3. Ground under repair Rule 25-1: Relief may be taken from ground under repair’, unless play has been prohibited from such areas in which case relief must be taken.

4. Stones in bunkers Rule 24-1: may be removed without penalty

5. Immovable obstructions Rule24-2: Fencing, direction posts, water hydrants and sprinklers and Fairway Lines. The ball may be dropped within one clubs length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.

6. Rule 24-2b Man Made Paths and Roads; the ball may be dropped within one clubs length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.

7. Out of Bounds; Rule 27: marked by white stakes. Left of white markers on 1st and 3rd fairway, right of the white markers on 10th and 12th and beyond the white makers, behind the 3rd and 11th greens. Also within the perimeters of the clubhouse fencing, Green keepers enclosure and the Tarmac car park area.

8. Water hazards; Rule 26: extend vertically and include sections of bridges directly above hazards.

Water Hazards - yellow stakes, lateral Hazards - red stakes.

Hazards at the 10th, 15th, 16th, and 17th can become very wet and boggy after rain and players are advised to exercise extreme caution before entering these areas.

9. Ditches rule 25-1: Open or grassed are part of the course. Balls in drainage channels, defined as stone filled and flush, may be lifted and dropped, within one clubs length, no nearer the hole.

New Forest Golf Club wish to manage the game of golf across the Forest and adjacent areas, encouraging quiet and responsible enjoyment while ensuring the special character of the Forest is not damaged.

Where possible please use bio-degradable tees and always pick up and remove broken tees.

Replace and press down all divots and repair pitch marks on the green.

Avoid slow play and keep up with the match in front. Observe trolley restrictions and never take trolleys on to tees or greens.

Do not play until the players in front are completely out of your range.  REMEMBER YOU HAVE A PERSONAL DUTY OF CARE.

In the event of adverse weather conditions a horn may be sounded. Mark the ball immediately, leave the course and return to the clubhouse.
